City of Wolverhampton

The Commercial Gateway Masterplan

Producing a film and creating a series of photo-real renderings to promote a city centre plan of regeneration.

Client: City of Wolverhampton Council
Collaborators: Austin Smith Lord, Chapman Taylor & Glenn Howells Architects

Glass Canvas has visualised the City of Wolverhampton's ambitious regeneration plans for sites earmarked for office, retail and leisure focused developments in the city centre, all interconnected via a new transport hub. The key purpose of the CGIs and promotional video is to excite, engage and attract interest from investors and end-occupiers.

Ranked as one of the best centres in the UK for investing in retail and leisure opportunities, both the 3D film and the renderings focused on the Commercial Gateway area of the scheme and were successfully presented to delegates at MIPIM 2018 in Cannes.

Richard Nicklin, City Investment Manager, Wolverhampton commented,

"The animation was a great success and well received by the various audiences - as a result we have a number of leads to follow-up who have shown an interest in the schemes and opportunities"

Wolverhampton City centre has seen many significant office, retail, leisure and residential developments over recent years with several more schemes under way or in the pipeline.

The promotional film illustrates a clear vision of how the phases of the city centre regeneration scheme will come together; blending historic buildings and canal frontages with modern office schemes in a connected location, expertly created by combining CGI animation with aerial drone footage.

The Interchange and Commercial Gateway area is the focus for growth of the commercial office quarter, complemented by the £150m transport interchange hub scheme.

Regarding their project collaboration with Glass Canvas Richard Nicklin added, "From our point of view, there is nothing that we would improve".
